New Day, New President

By: Frank | Comments 1 Comment

Sorry for the lack of posts; between finals and research papers I’ve spent the better part of the past month writing, studying, and/or sleeping. Due in part to my laziness, I’m basically ripping this story from Sam over at Hasta El Gol Siempre. After many years of imcompetence between Blanquiceleste and other past presidents, Racing held presidential elections for the first time since BC came into power, with the winner being Rodolfo Molina, taking 40% of the vote. I’d say this is a nice way to close out a year where we were a game away from being relegated, saw protests outside the AFA, and in general had to deal with the disaster that was the 2008 Clausura. Now that things have settled in my life, there will be more posts, so watch this space.

Racing 0 Colón 2: Well that didn’t go well…

By: Frank | Comments 1 Comment

Apologies for not posting a preview; I had a massive head cold over the weekend which I’m still recovering from. Let’s consider this game the exact opposite of the one last week at Tucumán, right down to the fact that I only saw the second half when last week I only saw the first (I had trouble finding a feed on justin.tv until I found one before the start of the second half). I’ll skip the usual match summary, and just write down some brief observations from what I saw. Read the rest of this entry »

Moralez: “En enero tengo que presentarme en Rusia para hacer la pretemporada”

By: Frank | Comments 2 Comments

According to a report in Olé, Maxi Moralez will be heading back to FC Moscow at the end of the Apertura. His reasoning is that his loan will be up at Racing and he has an obligation to return to Russia for preseason training. Hopefully, management at Racing will do all they can to try and sign El Enano permanently, but sadly, I don’t see it happening. He basically goes on to say that he’s not distracted by his contract situation and only cares about winning now and playing up to his ability at Racing. Read the rest of this entry »

Adios Promedio….

By: Frank | Comments 5 Comments

Okay, I’ll admit it; I was feeling kind of crappy yesterday so I only saw the first half of the match (my second half observations were courtesy of YouTube), which wound up being a good thing since Racing scored both goals in the first 45. This win definitely helps La Academia move up in the promedio, and brings us up to seventh in the Apertura. Match summary and highlights after the jump. Read the rest of this entry »

Preview: San Martín de Tucumán v Racing Club

By: Frank | Comments 3 Comments

Date: Sunday, November 9th
When: 19.40
Where: Estadio La Ciudadela, Tucumán

Hey, so I’m the new kid in town, ready to share with you all things Racing Club. La Academia travel all the way out to Tucumán (that’s pretty far west in case you weren’t sure) Sunday to square off against C.A. San Martín. I know pretty much next to nothing about them, except that San Martín are in fact from Tucumán, and they were promoted from the Primera B last season. They’re actually doing pretty well in the first division, sitting one place below us in 11th. But enough about them; let’s discuss the only team that matters… Read the rest of this entry »
